About JournAI
What is JournAI?
JournAI is a neutral, publisher-independent journal recommendation engine that helps researchers find the best-fit journal for their manuscripts using AI analysis of content similarity.
How recommendations work
When you submit your abstract, JournAI:
- Embeds your text using SPECTER2, a model trained on 100M+ scientific papers
- Searches 177,324 journal centroid vectors built from real publication content
- Scores candidates on 4 signals: embedding similarity (65%), topic overlap (20%), quality composite (8%), and activity composite (7%)
- Returns ranked results with credibility scores, OA status, and APC information
Data and coverage
JournAI covers 177,000+ academic journals across all disciplines. Journal metadata includes publisher, research field, open access status, APC costs, indexing presence, and the JournalLens Credibility Score (JLCS) - a 5-boolean quality indicator independent of citation metrics.
Neutrality
No publisher pays for placement in organic results. Recommendations reflect genuine content fit and journal quality, not commercial relationships. This is the core difference from publisher-owned journal finders.
Powered by JournalLens
JournAI is the AI recommendation engine of JournalLens, the academic journal intelligence platform. JournalLens users get full access to JournAI as part of their subscription, plus credibility analysis, submission tracking, and institutional tools.
